MMU Unified Update:

CONGRATS to the Unified Soccer team for WINNING the GOLD medal at the 2017 School Unified Soccer Tournament. The team won the tournament on goal differential to take home 1st place! The tournament took place at Norwich University on October 16th. This competition includes schools from throughout Vermont. Athletes and partners have the ability to compete in 5 per side team soccer or individual skills.

The 2nd year of the VPA Basketball season ended in the state semifinals for the Cougars, as they fell at home to CVU 46-44. This was the first loss of the season for the Cougars who put up a great game against CVU. The season was a great example of what sportsmanship should look like!

In May, we had a number of GOLD, SILVER, and BRONZE medal teams at the Special Olympics State Bocce tourney at the Complex in St. Albans. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather and had a GREAT time in their final event of the school year!

We are EXTREMELY proud of our team, as they represented MMU proudly, and competed in the tournament ... CONGRATULATIONS COUGARS!!!

From the Special Olympics Vermont (SOVT.org) website:

Special Olympics Unified Sports® brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities to train and compete on the same team. By pairing peers with and without disabilities on the same team, students are given the opportunity to build more inclusive schools. Unified Sports promotes equality on and off the field. The motto for Unified Sports is “On the field we’re teammates and off the field we’re friends”.

We currently offer six Unified Sports® competition experiences for schools and local programs:
