Global Service Club

Advisor: Maggie Swanke

Club Synopsis: Students interested in Global volunteerism, intercultural experiences, and using their time, energy, and efforts to positively impact people and places in need. In the past we have travelled to Tanzania, Africa to build cisterns in a small village where the average walk to access 'clean' water is over a mile, and to the Dominican Republic on an environmental mission, Operation Restoration, to replant mangroves and work on salvaging sea turtle beds. February 2019 MMU Global Service Club will travel to Ecuador to provide much-needed sustainable agricultural support in impoverished mountain communities. They will work with the Sumak Kawasay, Quilla Pacari and Yunguilla communities on reforestation and irrigation projects, and learn about the challenges of llama and carrot farming in the Andes. The Club also enjoys a vibrant FUNdraising schedule to assist in defraying the cost of the trip.

If you have any questions please contact Teddy Green, Club President; Jens Peterson or Abby Rogers, Vice Presidents; or Maggie Swanke, the faculty liaison, in room 403.
